head over heels
Tumbling into love
Head over heels describes being completely overtaken by something, usually love: She fell head over heels for him.
The phrase is oddly constructed—heels over head would better capture tumbling or somersaulting—but the meaning is clear: a total, disorienting fall.
Sometimes appears without the romantic context to mean simply upside down or in complete disarray.
