Unpublishing is removing previously published content from public access.
Unlike deleting, unpublishing typically preserves the content—a blog post or article simply becomes invisible to readers while remaining in the system: After the backlash, the magazine quietly unpublished the essay.
The term emerged with digital publishing, where making content disappear became as easy as making it appear.
