typewrite

Use mechanical keys

To typewrite is to produce text using a typewriter, the now largely obsolete keyboard machine that prints characters by striking inked ribbon against paper.

The word feels dated because the activity it describes has been displaced by computer keyboards: She typewrited her thesis on an old Remington.

The past tense appears as either typewrited or typewrote.
