twinflower

Paired bell blooms

Twinflower is a small creeping evergreen plant native to northern forests, named for its paired bell-shaped flowers that hang from a single stem.

The plant (*Linnaea borealis*) was a favorite of the botanist Carl Linnaeus, who chose it as his personal emblem.

Twinflowers carpeted the forest floor.
