shaded

Out of glare

Shaded describes something protected from direct light, especially sunlight: a shaded patio, shaded by tall oaks.

In drawing and design, shaded areas are darkened to suggest depth or shadow: The artist shaded the figure's cheekbones.

Shaded can also mean gradually varied in color or tone: shaded from pale yellow to deep orange.

Sunglasses and lamps may be shaded—fitted with something that blocks or diffuses light.
