turnover number
Enzyme speed metric
Turnover number is a measure of enzyme efficiency—the number of substrate molecules one enzyme molecule converts to product per unit time, typically per second.
A high turnover number means the enzyme works fast: Carbonic anhydrase has one of the highest turnover numbers known, processing a million molecules per second.
Also called catalytic constant or kcat.
