tracheotomies
Airway creation procedures
Tracheotomies is the plural of tracheotomy, a surgical procedure that creates an opening in the windpipe through the front of the neck.
The opening allows air to reach the lungs when the normal breathing passage is blocked or damaged.
The term is often used interchangeably with tracheostomy, though technically a tracheostomy refers to the opening itself rather than the procedure.
