CPAP
Apnea treatment device
CPAP stands for continuous positive airway pressure, a treatment for sleep apnea that delivers a steady stream of air through a mask worn during sleep.
The air pressure keeps the airway open, preventing the breathing interruptions that characterize the disorder: I can't sleep without my CPAP anymore.
The device itself is often called simply a CPAP.
