tomographies

Cross-sectional body scans

Tomographies is the plural of tomography, a medical imaging technique that produces cross-sectional views of the body's internal structures.

The most familiar form is the CT scan (computed tomography), which uses X-rays processed by computer to create detailed slices through organs and tissues.

Other types include PET (positron emission tomography) and MRI, though MRI technically uses different principles.

The doctor ordered several tomographies to examine the tumor from different angles.
