time periods
Chunks of history
Time periods are spans of history or duration marked by distinctive characteristics, events, or boundaries.
The term covers both measured intervals—a time period of six months—and named eras: the Victorian period, the Jurassic period, the postwar period.
In grammar, period can stand alone for the same concept, but time period emphasizes duration over a point in time.
