tide line
Ocean's high mark
A tide line is the mark left on a shore showing where the water reached at high or low tide.
It often appears as a line of debris—seaweed, shells, driftwood—deposited by retreating water: We walked along the tide line collecting shells.
The term also describes any visible boundary between wet and dry sand on a beach.
