beach combing
Hunting tidal treasures
Beach combing is walking along a shoreline to search for interesting or valuable items—shells, driftwood, sea glass, or objects washed up by the waves.
It combines leisurely strolling with treasure hunting: We spent the morning beach combing after the storm.
Someone who does this is a beachcomber.
