A taxi stand is a designated area where taxis wait in line for passengers, typically found at airports, train stations, hotels, and busy urban locations.
Passengers queue at the stand rather than hailing cabs from the street: We grabbed a cab at the taxi stand outside the terminal.
Also called a taxi rank in British English.
