tauntaun

Hoth riding beast

A tauntaun is a fictional creature from the Star Wars universe—a large, furry reptile used as a mount on the ice planet Hoth.

The creatures are best known from the scene where Han Solo slices one open to shelter Luke Skywalker from freezing: I thought she smelled bad on the outside.

The name occasionally appears in discussions of cold-weather survival or as shorthand for improvised shelter.
