live action

Not animated footage

Live action describes film or video featuring real people and physical environments, as opposed to animation or computer-generated imagery: The live-action remake of the animated classic.

The term emerged to distinguish traditional filmmaking once animation became common.

A live-action sequence may appear within an otherwise animated work, or vice versa.
