forenoon
Late morning hours
Forenoon is the part of the day between sunrise and noon—what most people simply call morning.
The word survives mainly in nautical and military contexts, where watches and shifts divide the day precisely: the forenoon watch runs from 8 a.m. to noon.
In ordinary speech, forenoon sounds old-fashioned or regional.
