strikebreaker
Picket line crosser
A strikebreaker is someone who works during a labor strike, either a regular employee who refuses to join the walkout or an outsider hired to replace striking workers.
The term carries strong negative connotations among union supporters, who view strikebreakers as undermining collective bargaining power and worker solidarity.
The more contemptuous term *scab* is often used instead.
The company brought in strikebreakers to keep the factory running.
