replacement worker
Strike-crossing employee
A replacement worker is someone hired to do the job of an employee who is absent, on leave, or on strike.
The term is neutral but often appears in labor disputes, where unions may use the more charged term "scab" for workers who cross picket lines: The company brought in replacement workers during the strike.
