stress incontinence

Sneeze-triggered bladder leaks

Stress incontinence is involuntary leakage of urine triggered by physical pressure on the bladder—coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercise.

It results from weakened pelvic floor muscles or a compromised urethral sphincter, often following childbirth, surgery, or with aging.

Unlike urge incontinence, which involves a sudden need to urinate, stress incontinence occurs without warning during moments of exertion.

She started doing Kegels after her doctor diagnosed stress incontinence.
