pessary
Internal support device
A pessary is a medical device inserted into the vagina, either to support the uterus or bladder in cases of prolapse, or to deliver medication locally.
Historically, pessaries were also used as contraceptive barriers.
The term occasionally appears in veterinary contexts for similar devices used in animals.
