glacial deposits
Frozen river's rubble
Glacial deposits are sediments left behind by glaciers as they melt and retreat.
These include everything from fine clay to massive boulders, often jumbled together in formations called moraines, drumlins, and eskers.
Much of the landscape in northern regions—the Great Lakes, Scandinavian fjords, Cape Cod—was shaped by glacial deposits from the last ice age.
The farmer's fields were full of rocks from glacial deposits.
