stereogram

Hidden 3D image

A stereogram is an image designed to create a three-dimensional effect when viewed correctly.

The term covers various techniques: paired photographs taken from slightly different angles (viewed through a stereoscope), or the "magic eye" autostereograms popular in the 1990s, where a hidden 3D image emerges from a flat pattern when you unfocus your eyes: I could never see the dolphin in those stereograms.
