Magic Eye picture
An autostereogram is an image designed to create a three-dimensional illusion when viewed with a specific focus technique.
Unlike traditional stereograms requiring special glasses or viewers, autostereograms work by repeating patterns that the brain fuses into depth when the eyes diverge or converge past the image plane.
The "Magic Eye" books popularized the form in the 1990s: I stared at the autostereogram until the hidden dolphin finally appeared.
