binocular disparity
Two-eye view difference
Binocular disparity is the slight difference between the images each eye receives, caused by the horizontal separation between them.
The brain interprets this disparity as depth information, allowing perception of three-dimensional space.
The effect is exploited in stereoscopic viewers, 3D films, and virtual reality headsets, which present slightly offset images to each eye.
