station break
Commercial interruption moment
A station break is a pause in radio or television programming during which a station identifies itself and typically airs commercials or public service announcements.
Required by broadcasting regulations, these brief interruptions occur at regular intervals: We'll be right back after the station break.
The term dates from early broadcasting when local affiliates would break from network feeds.
