off air
Between the commercials
Off air describes a broadcast station or program that isn't currently transmitting.
A show goes off air when it ends or is cancelled: The series went off air after five seasons.
A station may be off air during maintenance or overnight hours.
The phrase also works as an adjective: off-air comments are remarks made when microphones are supposedly not live.
