star trails
Long-exposure night sky
Star trails are the streaks of light that appear in long-exposure photographs of the night sky, created as stars seem to move across the frame due to Earth's rotation.
The effect produces graceful arcs or circles, with stars near the celestial poles tracing tighter curves than those near the equator.
Photographers typically expose for thirty minutes to several hours to capture dramatic trails.
I set up my camera for a four-hour exposure to photograph star trails over the desert.
