staphylococci
Grape-like bacterial colonies
Staphylococci is the plural of staphylococcus, a type of spherical bacterium that clusters in grape-like formations.
These bacteria live on human skin and mucous membranes, usually harmlessly, but certain species cause infections ranging from minor skin conditions to life-threatening diseases like sepsis and pneumonia.
The lab results showed staphylococci in the wound culture.
