stampeder

One who bolts

A stampeder is one who stampedes—either causing a rush of panicked animals or people, or joining such a rush.

The word appears in two main contexts: historical accounts of cattle drives, where stampeders were cowboys who triggered or managed stampedes, and the Klondike Gold Rush, where Stampeders were the fortune-seekers who flooded into the Yukon in 1898.
