split squat
One leg forward
A split squat is a lower-body exercise performed with one foot forward and one foot back, lowering the body by bending both knees until the rear knee nearly touches the ground.
Unlike a lunge, the feet stay planted throughout the movement.
Split squats build leg strength and balance, targeting the quadriceps and glutes: I've been doing split squats to fix my muscle imbalances.
