speech therapy
Communication disorder treatment
Speech therapy is treatment for disorders of speech, language, voice, or swallowing.
A speech therapist—formally a speech-language pathologist—works with children who have developmental delays, stroke patients relearning to speak, or anyone with communication difficulties: My son has been in speech therapy since he was three.
Sessions may address articulation, fluency, comprehension, or the physical mechanics of producing sound.
