dysfluency
Halting verbal flow
Dysfluency is any interruption in the smooth flow of speech—stuttering, repetition, hesitation, or filler sounds like "um" and "uh." Everyone experiences occasional dysfluency, but persistent patterns may indicate a speech disorder.
Speech therapists work with clients to reduce dysfluencies: The child's dysfluency improved with treatment.
Also spelled disfluency.
