solfeggio
Do-re-mi practice
Solfeggio is a system for teaching sight-singing and ear training using syllables to represent musical notes: do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si (or ti).
Students learn to recognize intervals and sing melodies by associating each pitch with its syllable.
The term also refers to vocal exercises using these syllables: She practiced her solfeggio before the audition.
Also called solfège.
