relative pitch
Note-to-note hearing
Relative pitch is the ability to identify or produce musical notes by their relationship to other notes, rather than recognizing them in isolation.
A person with relative pitch can tell that one note is a major third above another, or sing a melody after hearing the starting note.
Most trained musicians develop relative pitch, unlike the rarer absolute pitch (identifying notes without reference).
She has excellent relative pitch—give her any note and she can find the rest.
