sleeper ship
Dormant crew spacecraft
A sleeper ship is a spacecraft designed for long-duration space travel in which passengers and crew are placed in suspended animation or cryogenic sleep for the journey.
This science fiction concept addresses the problem of interstellar voyages that would take decades or centuries—far longer than a human lifetime spent awake.
The sleepers wake only upon arrival at their destination, having aged little or not at all during transit.
The colonists boarded the sleeper ship knowing they'd wake on a new world.
