skidder

Forestry hauling vehicle

A skidder is a piece of heavy equipment used in logging to drag felled trees from where they were cut to a loading area.

The machine grips logs with a grapple or cable and skids them along the ground rather than lifting them completely.

Skidder also refers to someone who skids—slides uncontrollably—though this use is rare outside logging contexts.
