sialolithiasis

Blocked saliva ducts

Sialolithiasis is the formation of calcified stones in the salivary glands or their ducts.

These stones can block saliva flow, causing pain and swelling, especially during eating when saliva production increases.

The condition most commonly affects the submandibular gland: The patient was diagnosed with sialolithiasis after recurring jaw swelling.
