submandibular gland

Under-jaw saliva producer

The submandibular gland is one of the major salivary glands, located beneath the lower jaw on each side of the face.

It produces most of the saliva in the mouth when not eating.

The gland can become swollen or blocked by stones, causing pain under the jaw: The doctor felt her submandibular gland for tenderness.
