Equipment suspension system
A shock mount is a device that isolates equipment from vibration and impact.
In audio recording, a shock mount suspends a microphone in an elastic cradle to prevent handling noise and floor vibrations from reaching the capsule: The condenser mic came with a spider-style shock mount.
Similar mounts protect cameras, hard drives, and sensitive electronics in vehicles or aircraft.
