pop filter
Recording plosive blocker
A pop filter is a screen placed between a speaker or singer and a microphone to reduce plosive sounds—the burst of air from pronouncing p's and b's that causes distortion in recordings.
Usually a circular mesh stretched over a frame, it's standard equipment in recording studios and podcasting setups: You need a pop filter if you're doing voiceover work.
