boom operator
Sound crew member
A boom operator is the film crew member who holds and positions the boom microphone during shooting.
The boom—a long pole with a microphone attached—must stay close enough to capture dialogue while remaining just outside the camera's frame.
The job requires physical endurance, as operators often hold the boom overhead for extended takes.
The boom operator shadowed the actors as they walked through the scene.
