shishkabob
Meat on stick
Shishkabob is an alternate spelling of shish kebab—chunks of meat and vegetables threaded on a skewer and grilled.
The dish originated in the Middle East but has become standard backyard cookout fare: We threw some shishkabobs on the grill.
The spelling reflects English speakers' phonetic interpretation of the Turkish.
