rosemary sprig
Herb stem cutting
A rosemary sprig is a small cutting from a rosemary plant—a few inches of woody stem with its needle-like leaves still attached.
Cooks use sprigs whole to infuse flavor into roasted meats, soups, or sauces, then remove them before serving: Tuck a rosemary sprig under the chicken skin.
The term applies to similar cuttings from other herbs: a sprig of thyme, a sprig of mint.
