shin splint
Lower leg strain
Shin splints are pain along the shinbone, typically from overuse during running or other high-impact activity.
The term usually appears in the plural even when describing a single episode: I got shin splints training for the marathon.
The condition results from inflammation of muscles, tendons, or bone tissue in the lower leg.
