server-side

Remotely processed operations

Server-side describes computing operations that occur on a remote server rather than the user's device.

When you submit a form on a website, server-side code processes the data, queries databases, and generates responses before sending results back to your browser.

The term contrasts with client-side, which runs locally: Server-side validation catches what client-side checks miss.
