sealions

Eared aquatic mammals

Sea lions are large marine mammals with external ear flaps, related to seals but distinguished by their ability to rotate their hind flippers forward for walking on land.

They're known for their loud barking and are commonly seen in zoos, aquariums, and coastal areas: Sea lions lounged on the pier.

The name comes from the mane-like fur around males' necks.
