flippers

Diver's foot fins

Flippers are the broad, flat limbs that marine mammals like seals and dolphins use for swimming, and by extension, the rubber foot attachments that human swimmers and divers wear to propel themselves through water.

The word also names the paddle-like controls on a pinball machine used to bat the ball back into play.

In casual use, someone might call their own hands or feet flippers, especially if they're clumsy: I can't text with these flippers.
