sea vegetables
Edible marine plants
Sea vegetables are edible seaweeds and marine algae harvested from oceans and coastal waters.
Common varieties include nori, kelp, wakame, and dulse.
They appear frequently in Asian cuisines—wrapped around sushi, floating in miso soup—and have gained popularity elsewhere as nutrient-dense foods: I've been adding sea vegetables to my smoothies.
