schussing

Racing straight down

Schussing is skiing straight downhill at high speed, following the fall line without turning.

The term comes from German for "shot"—the skier shoots down the slope.

It's the fastest way down but requires confidence and control: She was schussing down the mountain when she hit a patch of ice.
