salchow
Inside-edge takeoff
A salchow is a figure skating jump launched from the back inside edge of one skate, with the skater rotating in the air and landing on the back outside edge of the opposite foot.
Named after Swedish skater Ulrich Salchow, who first performed it in 1909.
The jump can be single, double, triple, or quadruple depending on rotations: She landed a clean triple salchow.
